Are You Mental?!

July 15th arrived and I couldn't help but reflect on what used to hang on my walls back in Malad. Harry Potter posters. Yes that's right. They were awesome! I then started collecting more memorabilia. I received a Book of Spells, a Sneakoscope, made my own pair on Omnoculars, and would steal the broom from the cupboard and pretend I was a chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. I could go on and on about my obsession with Harry Potter, but I will spare the rest of the details.

You see, July 15th is when my roommates, Edward, Soren, Sam, and I went to go see the last of the Harry Potter movies. It all would end (as the subtitle said). I totally geeked out. I bought a t-shirt, deathly hallows necklace, and made my wand look realistic. Oh I forgot, Edward had found this wand for me outside of Greenbriar apartments a few weeks before the movie. It looked legit! So excited and he's lucky to have a girlfriend who can be entertained by even the simplest of gifts.

I was jinxing Edward because he didn't want to take any pics with me...but at least he took them FOR me. Thanks love!

A couple of days before the movie, I decided to make Harry Potter food. My sister Camille, who also shares my passion for Harry Potter, has a cookbook with a bunch of recipes from the series. So I decided to make Pumpkin Juice, Pumpkin Pasties, Aunt Petunia's Pudding (English Strawberry Trifle), and Hagrid's Rock Cakes. I spend most of the day in the kitchen, making food and watching Harry Potter movies 2-4. This is quite a miracle for me to go on a cooking spree like this because I really don't like to cook. At all. The Pumpkin juice was a no show. Turns out you need an actual pumpkin for that one. Maybe I will make it for Halloween. Everyone loved the trifle. The pumpkin pasties were OK. There were like pumpkin pie without the whipped cream, and the rock cakes, well...serve when hot because they do end up as hard as rocks the day or two after you make them.

Strawberry Trifle...Can't thank Chrissie enough for making the custard for me!

Pumpkin Pasties

The time came to go to Idaho Falls and I was so excited! We ended up having to sit near the front, which was fine by me because the seats recline back anyways. The movie ended and well....I was definitely disappointed. The ending was very anti-climatic and super lame. If you want to know the REAL ending to an amazing series, read the book. It's 100% better. I did like some parts of the movie though so it wasn't all a downer. I was just glad to vent about it to my friends who were bummed as well. Now I can just reminisce and re-read my favorite books of all time.
