Day 27-Pets

Growing up on a farm has its good sides. I would get farm animals as pets, love them, then have them taken away from me so people could eat them. Ha, well that's how farm life is I guess. All other pets I have had don't last very long. I just wasn't very good at taking care of them. I really hope my kids don't want pets!

One of my first pets was a horse called Stubby. Back in the day I didn't mind riding horses. He was kind and gentle. My sisters horse, Jenny, scared me. So when Stubby was sold, I didn't have the desire to ride a horse.

I used to do sheep 4-H. That was a load of work. It was the only way to save up for college. One year I had a sheep whom I liked to call Ed. He was awesome! He was calm, didn't fuss like other sheep I had had, and made me some big cash when I sold him! When I realized I had to give him away I was terribly sad. I read to him, sang to him, and talked to him until it was time for him to leave. That broke my poor thirteen year old heart. Next year I didn't want to do sheep and haven't since.

We also had to Brittany Bird dogs named Jewel and Cooper. They were my dads pets but everybody loved them. Anyone who has had this kind of dog know they are very energetic and hyper! They were great! Every summer for the longest time Jewel would have puppies and we would sell them. Me and my sister loved to name them and take care of them. They were so cute!

This dog was more of a family pet. His name was Flash. We was a very pretty dog, but extremely old by the time I met him. He was Camille's dog. He would just wander around the neighborhood and growl at you if you came near him while he was eating.

I have had three fish. They were Bob, Ed, and Goldie. Bob died from my little brother taking him out of the fish bowl to play with him, Ed I believe the same way, and Goldie had a bunch of books fall on her bowl. When "Finding Nemo" came out I ended up being compared to Darla. I'm a fish killer!

Last but not least was my hamster Cupi. My piano teacher's daughter didn't want it anymore so I offered to take her out of their hair. She was awesome. She would let you play with her. I built a maze for her so she could keep up her smarts. One day after cleaning her cage, she just stopped breathing. I have no clue how she died. I'm hoping it was just her age. Anyways that was hard. I didn't like burying her, but it was a lovely ceremony.

So there you have it. Pets of the past.
